Martin Durkin is originally from Southern New Jersey, and grew up around the construction industry. He learned the fundamentals from his father, who is a successful contractor himself. Martin’s father also taught him that the two most important aspects of success in this demanding business are integrity and accuracy.
After years of apprenticeship, Martin was accepted to and graduated from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. It was there that he was able to further develop and hone his design skills. After graduation, Martin stayed in New York and founded Proxy Design in 2006. He primarily focused on converting industrial spaces into luxury condos.
Over time, Martin developed strong business relationships throughout the Northeast. These relationships lead to opportunities for projects in the Philadelphia area – including homes in the historical register, and refurbishing & reinventing spaces in homes of all types and ages.
In 2012, Martin relocated Proxy Design to Philadelphia to better serve his clients in the Delaware Valley.
